The summer holidays  are here! some ideas from Barn & Beach for National Trust Days out in August 2012!

Sheringham Park August

3rd   (2.30pm)&  4th (3pm) Seashore Event  

7th & 9th 10.30am & 2pm Big Bug Hunt Join our Learning Officer to discover the amazing minibeasts that can be found lurking in the leaf litter

Price Children £3.50, Accompanying Adults £1.50 Booking Essential

14th & 16th 10.30 – 12.30pm Reptile Ramble Go in search of reptiles of Sheringham Park with our warden Ed and learning officer Rob. If you are lucky you get views of an adder or maybe a slow worm. Suitable for adults and older children.

 24th 7pm-9pm Batty Bats & Mad Moths A more family-friendly look at the night -time creatures of the park
Take a walk around the park with learning officer Rob to look for bats and discover how they find their food in the dark and have a go at moth trapping.

Price Children £4 Accompanying Adults £2

31st 7pm Bat Walk We will be in search of Britain’s largest bat which is often seen at this time of year, alongside the other 7 species that have been recorded in the park. If we are lucky we may come across the rare Barbestelle bat.

The Blickling Proms

Sat 11 August

A return to our most popular open-air concert format. Enjoy the wonderful parkland of Blickling with

HEIGHAM HOLMES WILD WEEKEND! 18th -19th August 2012

Saturday 18th –  

10.30 – 12.30 – Walk on the Wildside

Come for a wild walk through the reserve with the warden. Venture off the beaten track, and look out for wildlife along the way.  Wellies essential! Sorry no dogs.

 8 pm—10.30 pm – The Twilight Zone

A night-time walk in search of owls, moths, bats and other creatures of the night.  Listen to bats with the aid of a bat detector and inspect the light traps for amazing moths.  Watch the antics of Barn Owls on ‘Barn Owl Cam’ (let’s hope they are home!).  Aimed at adults and older children. Sorry no dogs.

Chilli Fiesta & Fete

Wednesday 1st August 2012, 11am – 5pm

The 6th annual Felbrigg Hall Chilli Fiesta. A large range of stalls selling everything connected with chilli’s – from chocolate to cheese and cakes to curry! With all the fun of a traditional fete too there’s something for all the family.

Felbrigg Hall Honey Fair

Wednesday 22nd August 2012, 11am – 5pm

A celebration of bees and honey with stalls selling beekeeping equipment, food and beauty products. The West Norfolk & Kings Lynn Beekeepers Association will also be on hand with information and various activities.
