Happy New Year; The first guests of the year left Beach House yesterday having braved a stormy week;they had a wonderful time walking the coast and surrounding countryside but mostly storm watching from the first floor of Beach House.

On Thursday the drama unfolded, we had a last minute flood warning for Walcott, it came from ‘Flood Line’ about three o’clock in the afternoon so I  didn’t have a lot of time to get the defenses in place before dark.

Beach View was fully boarded and sandbagged before dark but with the North Westerly gaining strength it was quite a challenge….Beach Place and Beach House, only had the protection of sandbags!

By the time the high tide hit Cromer around nine fifteen the coastguard and wardens were visible around the village of Walcott, the guests had been advised to take their car away from the seawall and had the joy of watching the storm unfold in front of the Beach House, brave souls.

The storm came and went, the guests too, they have been replaced by new visitors who have traveled all the way from Aldeburgh Suffolk, looking for a quiet peaceful week by the beach, well lets hope, eh?

Saturday we walked to the seafront enjoyed fish n chips and an ice cream, it was 2°Cno sign of the snow and ice promised, it was a glorious Norfolk day and a joy to be beside the seaside by the sea!
