How often do the tides return at Ostend Beach Walcott?

Above are some of the questions I field on a regular basis at my small North Norfolk holiday letting company Barn & Beach.

The beaches on the North Norfolk coast are varied, from rocky/Stoney to tidal muddy & pebbles from the west to centre (Blakeney to Sheringham) turning to stretches of golden sand centre to east (Cromer to Yarmouth).
The beaches are formed and reshaped by the ever coming tide.
In winter and spring high tides can rapidly change the formation or beach level at many resorts.
In Walcott a huge ‘Sand scaping’ project in 2019 has helped the beach tremendously. The beach levels are now more consistent than they have been for a generation.

The ebb and flow of the tide is twice daily with the time changing by an average 50 minutes per day.
Often sections of the beach are still useable at all times, however, in spring tides the water will edge onto the sea wall with no sand exposed at all.

The tide table is on sale in many local stores, one can be found in the village store in Walcott.

A great tool to plan your day or activity, (especially where long coastal walks are part of the day) whilst staying on the coast and every visit to the ‘local store’ helps the local economy.

Many sporting activities can still be carried out at high tide, e.g. walking and fishing. kayaking, paddleboarding or surf boarding if you have brought one with you or at some beaches (Sea Palling or Cromer) these may be hired.
