The great British tradition Fish ‘n Chips at the seaside can be enjoyed in Walcott, the local shop is excellent and has a cafe area or sit out on the sea wall, and enjoy the view!

Pub food is available at The Lighthouse (Walcott) & The Poachers Pocket (Bacton) on the seafront, they both have a good Sunday lunch options too.

The Mermaids Slipper (Stalham Staithe) has a lovely dining room with a good a la carte menu, as do The Olive Tree (North Walsham), The Gunton Arms (Thorpe Market), The Vernon Arms (Southrepps).

The Oriental Garden Chinese restaurant and takeaway in the village of Bacton, or alternatively worth trying the Chubby Panda in North Walsham too!

We are dedicated to the environment at Barn & Beach. We are constantly reviewing our policy and exploring ways to improve our footprint… Our policies include; –

Provenance, sourcing products from as near to the coast as possible, be it a cut of meat, dairy products, fresh vegetables, or flowers for the table, it will be local where possible.

Services, technical and domestic services are sourced from local villages.

Waste Disposal,North Norfolk District Council offer good recycling facilities, we encourage all guests, trades etc. to recycle.
We have compost facilities at the properties and encourage all to use them.

Chemical, we are exploring a variety of environmentally friendly products without compromising the quality for our guests. We have never employed any chemical in our gardens and aim to continue this policy.

Home Grown, Both the ‘Beach House’ & ‘Barn’ gardens are now established and provide us with a small amount of Vegetables, leeks, onions, garlic and peas, hardy types that can withstand the sea breezes….we are also now restoring our allotment! Looking for great results in 2017…

The Pekin Bantams are flourishing and five now roam the gardens….they love the vegetable plot….

The beehive is currently closed; we had harvested two batches of honey in 2013 ‘Pure Norfolk'; 2014 however wasn’t so good and the colony was decimated, hoping for better things in 2018…We are still trying to source a Nuc, if you know of one for sale at a reasonable price?

The future’s bright; we ask our guests for their tips to help this policy develop and grow shoots!
