National Gardens Scheme (NGS) Open Day

Saturday 13July

We give all money raised from garden admission today to this important charity which gives away £2.5m each year to nursing, caring and gardening charities. Usual garden admission applies.

Statuary Cleaning

Week of 15July (weather dependent)

Everyone outside with bucket & brush! Our statues dress up our outdoor space but need specialist cleaning to keep them looking tip-tip. See conservation in action and get tips on caring for your own. Usual admission applies. No booking required.

Oxburgh Hall

Nordic Walking

9 July, 10am – 11.30am

Have you ever wondered what Nordic Walking is?  Come and find out at Oxburgh Hall.  We are offering taster sessions with a fully qualified instructor.  Each session lasts about an hour, covering the basic technique and giving an insight into how the poles can propel you along and work the whole body.  All equipment will be provided; please wear comfortable shoes.  You may wish to bring something to drink while you are walking but tea/coffee and biscuits will be provided at the end.

Sherlock Holmes and the Hound of the Baskervilles

Wednesday 10 July, 7.30pm (Gates open at 6pm)  

Dramatisation of a well-loved classic, performed by Chaperhouse Theatre Company. Bring rugs or chairs and a picnic. Barbecue (burgers and sausages), beverages and ice creams available.

Scything Day

Saturday 20 July, 11.30am – 3.30pm

Richard Brown from Emorsgate Seeds near King’s Lynn will be demonstrating the ancient art of scything in the Orchard. He will also talk about wildflower meadows and how to care for them.

Defend the Hall

Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 July, 11am – 4pm

Come and see the 17th Century Life & Times re-enactment group in action during the Civil War as Parliament Forces enter the Oxburgh Estate intent on destruction! Wonderful fun for all the family. NB There will be loud musket & cannon fire at this event.

Open Air Theatre – Sherlock Holmes

How can one open-air show with just four actors possibly contain so much action and adventure? Elementary, my dear! The critically-acclaimed Pantaloons Theatre Company put dynamic detective duo Holmes and Watson through their paces as they tackle their most fiendish case yet in this delightfully inventive and hilarious show for all ages featuring live music, audience interaction and more mystery than you can shake a magnifying glass at. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

Bee Day (a must for us at Barn & Beach)

13 and 14 July, 10.30 – 16:30

See a bee hive in action and learn how bees make honey. Roll a beeswax candle and make your own insect house to take away.

Butterfly Hunt

Saturday 20 July, 14:00 – 16:30

We’ll go in search of butterflies as we try to track down Purple Hairstreaks and White Admirals – two of the less common species that can be found in the Park at this time of year.
